BTC.com announces Europe’s first Bitcoin Cash Hackathon ahead of BCH hard fork in november

Amsterdam, Netherlands , September 13, 2018 – BTC.com, the bitcoin specialist where one million wallet users, miners, and developers access tools and coins, today announced they are hosting the first major Bitcoin Cash hackathon in Europe, to be held in the Rockstart HQ in Amsterdam, which will also include a second track for innovative programs built on Bitcoin, Lightning Network, Ethereum and more. The BTC.com hackathon brings together a comprehensive cross-section of blockchain engineers, Bitcoin Cash developers, tech entrepreneurs, designers, and scrum masters to Rockstart, in the flourishing fintech capital of Amsterdam, BTC.com will be awarding €3500 in BCH to the solution that best leverages the latest tools released for BCH developers, e.g. opcodes, big blocks, Wormhole, tokens, and smart contracts.

Hard fork

This hackathon will take place two weeks before Bitcoin Cash’s scheduled network upgrade, allowing different members from the BCH community to discuss and brainstorm the upcoming fork with others. BTC.com is looking to draw both experts and beginners interested in Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain projects in order to learn from all perspectives.

Kick-off

After a welcome breakfast and registration on Saturday morning, the event kicks off with mentors going over the rules and challenges, followed by a technical deep dive and team planning. At midday the 32-hour hackathon officially begins. At the conclusion on Sunday, each of the teams will present their projects before the other groups, and a panel of judges will give scores based upon the utility, usability, creativity, and functionality of each final product.
