Yahoo-oprichter: “Blockchain gaat finance sector disrupten”
Blockchaintechnologie gaat een forse impact krijgen op de financiële sector, aldus medeoprichter Jerry Yang van Yahoo. Dit zei Yang tijdens het evenement Innovation Asia Forum in Singapore.
“Blockchain is a natural technology for banks and trading. If you look at US institutions and banks, the kind of infrastructure that is being developed has long-term implications. For the technology to succeed, the question is can there be trust built? That can open huge amounts of doors.”

Yang staat bekend als een voorstander van decentrale technologie en assets zonder tussenkomst van een derde partij. Eind 2017 vertelde hij aan nieuwszender CNBC dat bitcoin en cryptovaluta zeer veel potentieel hebben. Hij ziet bitcoin ook uitgroeien tot een betaalmiddel en niet alleen als een oppotmiddel, het digitale equivalent van goud zoals het vaak gezien wordt.
“Personally, I am a believer in how digital currency can play a role in our society, especially in not only the front end of doing transactions but also the back end of creating a much more efficient system and much more verifiable system.
But for now, it seems like it’s more driven by the hype of investing and getting a return rather than using it as a transaction currency.”

Net zoals Apple-mede-oprichter Steve Wozniak is Yang zeer ‘bullish’ op blockchaintech. Wozniak heeft als standpunt dat Bitcoin zijn waarde als vorm van digitaal goud al heeft bewezen.
