Verbazing na notering Ethereum Classic aan Coinbase, ruilbeurs stelt ook indexfonds open
De koers van Ethereum Classic is dinsdag in eerste instantie omhoog geschoten, nadat bekend is geworden dat de cryptomunt aan Coinbase wordt genoteerd. De afgelopen 24 uur is de koers – samen met de complete cryptovalutamarkt – ineengezakt door een min van 15 procent.
Ethereum Classic
Ethereum Classic is in 2016 na een splitsing op het ethereum netwerk. Feitelijk is het de voortgang van de ‘oorspronkelijke ethereum blockchain’. Volgens marktvorser Coinmarketcap is ETC met 1,5 miljard dollar aan marktkapitalisatie de achttiende cryptomunt in grootte. De vraag is dan ook: waarom wil Coinbase deze cryptomunt noteren? Vooral op Twitter fronste menigeen zijn wenkbrauwen. Zo stond Ripple (XRP), de derde cryptomunt qua grootte, hoog op het lijstje van marktvolgers om genoteerd te worden.

Een van de redenen die wordt aangewezen is dat ETC in volume tot de top vijf van de markt behoort. Er wordt veel in gehandeld. Ook prijzen sommigen de goed onderbouwde filosofie van ETC.

Not only have they added $ETC but they’re crediting everyone who had an $ETH balance at the hard fork in 2016 and didn’t withdraw.

Coinbase indexfonds
De Amerikaanse ruilbeurs maakte ook bekend dat haar indexfonds open wordt gesteld voor investeerders die vanaf 250.000 dollar tot 20 miljoen dollar willen investeren. Het Coinbase Index Fund wordt samengesteld uit de cryptovaluta die de ruilbeurs momenteel aanbiedt (bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin en bitcoin cash). Ethereum classic wordt daar binnenkort aan toegevoegd. Coinbase accepteert nu alleen nog in de VS geaccrediteerde investeerders.
